Day -2: The Practice Block

The team has arrived, collecting at leader Stan Wagon's house in Silverthorne for opening festivities (including fresh walleye, caught through lake ice by team member Dan Schwalbe).

Stan has made us a five-foot high practice block out of natural snow, which carves very easily, and we've begun roughing out the design for this test trial. We've found that pink cow-marking pens work well to mark in the basics of the design. Bathsheba made some templates and diagrams, but it's already clear, as we're facing off over this little block, that we'll be building this thing mainly by eye.

Here is the rough practice block.
