Canyon de Chelly and Hope Arch

A ruin high up on a wall in Canyon de Chelly. All the ruins were about 100 feet up, indicating that the sand here was that high when people were living in the structures.


Hope Arch is named after Enid Earl Hope in 1909; she was the wife of geologist Herbert Gregory. It is truly spectacular, with a 70-foot vertical span, and 60-foot width. I think this is in Entrada sandstone.
