Peak 10, Fourth of July Bowl, and Peak 8
A very easy ski, especially when the road is open and one can drive high. Most recently I did this on June 16, 2009 (with Maggie Gaddis, Jonathan Kriegel, Tom Brennom, and Israel Broner) and the corn conditions were perfect. Attained the summit in sneakers using the rocky northern edge of the bowl.
Here is Maggie Gaddis ripping it.
And here is one of Maggie, and me with camera in hand, taken by Tom Brennom. The road switchbacking up to the saddle shows up nicely with snow on it.
Below is a shot of Peak 10 (left), Peak 9 (center), and Crystal (right) taken from the top of Peak 8 on May 27, 2011.
The day on Peak 8 was fun: I climbed it solo from the “Otter Slide” trailhead, the first time in 20 years I had been to this summit. Made some nice tracks in the bowl.
And on June 11, 2011, Dave, Janet, and I found excellent corn on Peak 8, light winds, and enough snow to ski almost all the way back to the car at the bottom of Siberia Loop.
On June 11, 2016, Randy Garrison and I skied off the summit of Peak 5, but except for the first 400 feet or so, it was too mushy to be fun.
