Bierstadt, West Face and North Chute
Once the Guanella Pass road opens (usually on Memorial Day), it is straightforward to ski up the W Face of Bierstadt to the 14060-foot summit. On descent it seems nicest to ski 1000 feet down the face and then turn right, north, into a large chute that ends up in Scott Gomer Creek. On June 6, 2015, Randy Garrison and I did that. Of course, like any 14er, it was crowded with hikers, but that was not a problem, and once we dropped to the north we were all alone in a beautiful high valley.
