Egghorn Col and Big Eddy Glacier
At the top, about one-third of the way over from the left side, is the slope to Egghorn Col: steep but skiable. Egghorn Peak is left of the col; Schrund Peak, with the striking ice-cliff facing left below it, is just right of center. The slope that dominates the center view had slid recently, so we did not ski it. Instead we returned to camp via the next slope to the right, and our set of turns is visible. Katie and Robbie skied this one slope again the following day, as we carried full packs up and over the col.
The photo below shows the final slope to the col at upper right, and a less steep slope which we could not resist skiing twice. The skier is expert telemarker Rob Nachtwey.
