The Crux

This view of the south side of Glissade Peak shows the crux of the route. We traversed from the rear center to reach the long snow ridge descending to the right. Just around the horizontal rock band it became quite steep and we had to tiptoe down carefully to a spot allowing a traverse onto the broad face below the rocks, which leads to the large saddle below Tour Ronde. This picture was taken from near the summit of Tour Ronde, and the foreground snow is the start of the very very steep north face discussed below. Photo: Katie Larson.
