Other Fine Sculptures
Second place: Aurora Borealis, by Yukon, a very effective combination of ghosts, a skull, and a raven.
First place: Dragons, by Mexico.
I liked this one, in part because I grew up in Quebec: A wedding dress representing the women (“Filles de roi”) sent by France to help populate New France (now called Québec), by the Quebec City team. The dress is hollow (note door on lower left). Indeed, this was the year of the mole as many teams hollowed out their block. An interesting factoid is that the province of Quebec, during the approximate period 1700–1800, had the largest population growth rate ever recorded on earth.
Medusa, by the Milwaukee team. An extremely difficult sculpture, and they did not quite finish their snakes.
A kangaroo having a cuppa tea, by Australia.
